How cool is this? Apparently, in Nicaragua, it costs a lot to make calls from mobile phones, which is why people must troop to call shops where they can make phone calls. But Llamadas Pedaleadas is taking the call shops to the people, and better yet, the bikes use renewable energy, which then powers the phones and the cellphone chips. Makes me wish I could set up a solar- and pedal-powered mobile phone charging station. I’d bike around the city–well, maybe not me, because I’d be too scared to face the mad vehicles–and there is absolutely no doubt that people would be queuing to charge their phones.
