Green cars

Summer’s almost here so for you travelers out there: according to AAA, the Hertz car rental organization has a “Green Collection”, which means they have EPA fuel-efficiency ratings of 28 mpg or higher. They include more than 35,000 cars, such as the Buick LaCrosse, Ford Fusion, Hyundai Sonata and Toyota Camry. The fleet of vehicles are available at 50 major US airports and other sites.

Toyota also announced last year that it plans to offer hybrids in all vehicle classes—from subcompacts to luxury models—by the year 2012. I hope the Japanese automakers make hybrid sport-utility vehicles soon, to join the Ford Escape Hybrid which was introduced in 2006.
