All hail the king
We're huge fans of Colin Firth here, so you can imagine how thrilled we were that he bagged the Best Actor trophy at the Oscars last night. Here's something else to celebrate: He was wearing a Tom Ford suit that was made out of "ethical materials," as Contact Music reports. His wife Livia was likewise clad in a green outfit--a gown recycled from old dresses.
Sleek, sustainable headphones
A lot of people nowadays walk around listening to music, and if you do this too, you might as well use eco-friendly headphones. This particular pair by Ashcraft Design is made using recycled and sustainable materials, from the wood recycled from old guitars, to the leather that came from old clothes, to reclaimed aluminum.

Would you try ice cream made from breast milk? London's The Icecreamists's founder Matt O'Connor said: ""It's pure, it's natural, it's organic, and it's free range — and if it's good enough for our kids, it's good enough to use in our ice cream."

Valentines for the Hudson

From Environment New York:
With Valentine's Day just around the corner, the Hudson River is in desperate need of some love.
Many of our cherished waterways are suffering from toxic pollution, sewage and industrial waste. Right now the Environmental Protection Agency is setting new rules for protecting waters across the country.
Rollbacks to the Clean Water Act cast doubt on the protections many of our streams and wetlands had enjoyed for decades, so we are asking the EPA to do all they can to restore these protections and stop polluters from harming our waters.
But we know it is not going to be all hugs and kisses for the EPA as they move forward in this process — big polluters and their allies in Congress are already fighting back. That's why we want you to show your love for the Hudson and encourage the EPA to do all they can this Valentine's Day to protect the waters we cherish. Click here to send your valentine.

Green nail polish at last
And you might have guessed that in this case, green means eco-friendly. As someone who loves nail polish, I've been wondering if nail polish could ever be green, and it looks like there really are companies thinking in this direction, like Ginger + Liz Colour Collection™. Established by model/author S. Liz Pickett and entrepreneur H. Ginger Johnson, the brand takes pride in its vegan-friendly and toxin-free selection of nail polish.

A way to green your dry cleaning
My sister Lynn blogged about "The Green Garmento" before (see "The Situation teams up with The Green Garmento").
This recyclable garment bag is definitely worth your investment. Do you have clothes for dry cleaning? Put your clothes inside the bag, bring it to your dry cleaner, and inform them that you'd like your clean clothes to be placed back inside your bag. The Green Garmento replaces the plastic your clothes usually come in.
What if you don't have clothes that require dry cleaning anymore? Good for you. But guess what? You can use this bag as a duffel. It has a drawstring to keep it closed, plus shoulder strap and handles for easy and convenient carrying. At home, you can use it as laundry bag or even a hamper liner. Yes, the folks at The Green Garmento weren't kidding when they said it's 4-in-1.
Cleaning it is pretty straightforward. Check out the washing instructions below.

Oh, and did I say that the design is pretty good and well-thought-of? It even has a clear window for your dry cleaning ticket! It comes in six colors - Orange Sunshine, Burgundy Bliss, Blue Water, Red Buttons, Green Grass and Black Night. I've got Orange Sunshine and Blue Water. I've decided the blue one's going to my sister Lani, so I can get another one (either Burgundy Bliss or Red Buttons).
If you've had enough of those single-use plastic dry cleaning bags, then worry not! You have a greener option with The Green Garmento.
