Iron Pan

I've taken to using stainless steel cookware but I read that another safe, non-stick alternative to carcinogenic Teflon is cast iron cookware. It also has the benefit of adding iron to your food. You still have to "treat" or "season" the pans though to make it non-stick. Here's a how-to link.

  1. Indeed you are correct that cast iron is a safer alternative to the non stick or teflon range of cookware.

I can highly recommend a range of cookware called nakedpan - www.nakedpan.com. It is rust proof free, naturally non stick and is great for all types of cooking. Adding to it's list of qualities is the pans are rust proof, made using recycled cast iron and is recyclable.

Since using these pans I have become converted.

  2. Have been converted to using cast iron cookware, though you do need to be selective on what you use. There is some cast iron "traditional" companies that have covered their pans with teflon or the non stick coating.

Came across the range produced by a company from Japan - very ethical and environmentally conscious company. Staff are traditional artisans who have been with the company for years. The Company Oigen have been manufacturing cast iron ware since 1852.

The new range of cookware called NakedPan is rust proof, naturally non stick (no coating), the pan is made from 75% recycled cast iron, 25% new cast iron and is recyclable as well.

Have purchased the frying pan and the two handled pan and both are great to cook with - on gas, electric, induction (glass tops), in aga stoves, wood fire and in the oven.

Easy care for them and the more you use them, the better they become.
