McDonald's to serve good coffee?

And by good coffee, we mean eco-friendly, guilt-free coffee!
Fast food giant McDonalds has secured endorsement from international environmental organisation Rainforest Alliance that guarantees the coffee served at its 484 McCafe outlets is made from beans grown under environmentally sustainable practices and socially responsible conditions.
Nobody really associates McDonald's with healthful, organic food and socially responsible practices, so this is a very surprising move on their part. It could be a PR ploy for all we know, but still, everyone can just put more pressure on McDonald's and applaud their good efforts at the same time.

  1. Lynn, I do some PR work for McDonald's in WA and yes, we want people to know that the company has made this change for the better.

It's not only a socially resonsible move, but a smart business move to show the company is keeping pace with the times.

Whenever a menu change is introduced - Heart Tick Meals, Deli Rolls, TFA and cholesterol free cooking oil etc - you get people claiming that it's just some kind of smokescreen.

Hopefully people will eventually realise that the changes aren't going to stop and they're happening for one very good reason - it's what people want.

I'm a big supporter of environmental initiatives and very happy to say that this is no cynical exercise!

  2. I'm really glad to hear from an insider--and extremely pleased that all the changes aren't just made to put a positive spin on McDonald's image! Keep up the great work, and thanks for sharing your thoughts!
